Lil Gyarados

Meet Gyary the Lil Red Gyarados!

This is my first finished art of 2019 and also my entry for the Character Design Challenge Monthly.

For this illustration I was inspired by my fond memories of a child and exploring the forests and lakes to catch frogs. I loved the thrill of catching cute little critters and befriending them. I'd take them back to my granny's cabin and show off my new friends. I'd sit and pet them and watch them hop around. When it was time to go home, I would release them back into the wild. Although this piece is inspired by summer time memories, my first instinct was to make it take place in the Minnesota winter. If I were to find a baby Gyarados now, it would be so amazing!
